S.D. & G United Way Facing a Fiscal Crisis!
As a New Year begins, the United Way of S.D. & G is facing a fiscal crisis.
With a campaign shortfall of $149,600 the organization may need to reduce the number of funded agencies or seriously reduce funding to the 18 groups.
Campaign Chair, Scott Armstrong says, We desperately need pledges. People dont need to give us the money right nowjust a pledge for this year. Well make it work
United Way President, Kevin Wilson says, We are hoping the community can rally behind our urgent need. This is about ensuring help is there for nearly 30,000 people in our community.
Wilson says, We cant wait much longer. Our agencies need to move forward, so we need to let them know funding levels as soon as possible, so they can determine how it might impact the work they do.
Executive Director, Karen Turchetto says the United Way staff is ready to make it easy for donors. Whether people want to donate cash, make a pledge, setup payroll deduction, we can do it. Well come to your home or office.
The organization has extended the campaign for one final appeal that will end on January 14th, 2009. For further information on the 18 funded agencies or to make a donation, contact the United Way office at 613 932 2051.
