Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels provides hot, nutritious meals to people in the community who are unable to attend to their own meal preparation but wish to continue living independently.

Meals on Wheels assists in the promotion of health, well being and independence of its clients by providing a nutrition program with therapeutic, preventative and social components.

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit program operated in partnership with the Glen-Stor-Dun Lodge. This program has been serving the City of Cornwall for the past 37 years. Approximately 300 volunteers deliver 126 hot, nutritious, low cost meals to mainly seniors and adults with physical disabilities. The meals are delivered Monday through Friday over the noon hour to all areas of the City of Cornwall on seven different routes.

Volunteers are the backbone of Meals and Wheels and deliver all the meals. Volunteers also provide a social contact with the clients daily and report if clients are not home or ill.

United Way Funding
Funds received from the United Way are used to purchase supplies to deliver the meals, subsidize the cost of the meals, subsidize the salary of the Volunteer Coordinator, and postage for volunteer scheduling.
