Canadian Red Cross Society
The Canadian Red Cross mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the Canadian Red Cross is a leading humanitarian organization through which people voluntarily demonstrate their caring for others in need.
United Way Funding
The United Way of SDG funds the S. D. & G. Branch of the Canadian Red Cross, which is headquartered in Cornwall.
Programs
The S. D. & G. Branch of the Canadian Red Cross provides a variety of programs and services to people of Cornwall and the area, including:
- Personal Support / Homemaking Services
- First Aid/CPR training
- Transportation to out of town for medical appointments
- Disaster Management
- Home Equipment Loan Program (loans of wheelchairs, walkers, and commodes)
- Respected Vio;ence and Abuse Prevention Program
- Mittens for school children
Our main fundraising event is a two day triathlon which takes place in August.
