Family Relief Services
Serving families with developmentally handicapped children and adults (in the counties of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry as well as the City of Cornwall), the program provides needed short-term relief.
Our focus is to increase the family's capacity to function as a unit by helping to "recharge" their energy levels, promote the family's unity and to lessen stress. Having a child with a disability living at home presents enormous challenges for families. Everyday activities like getting enough sleep, finding time to help the other children with their homework, or doing groceries become major struggles.
Monies received through the United Way will permit us to serve families who are on a waiting list or who need additional hours of service.
